Monica Campa AP:S1 #1 Questions 1) How do the enneagram and our personality types influence our daily lives and those around us? 2) My artwork depicts the unique yet encompassing nine types of the enneagram. In each type, a series of pictures will depict an individual who is portraying his/her type influencing their personal life and interactions with others. 3) In the making of each piece, I began with a simple beginning idea of what I wanted the picture to show about a certain type. For example, type one: the reformer. The reformer is known to be self-controlled and a perfectionist. One who is always judging and forcing themselves to meet a certain standard of perfection in life always has a way of looking at oneself and searching for areas of improvement and consequently reprimand themselves when failing to do so. 𝐓𝐘𝐏𝐄 𝟖: 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐈𝐍𝐕𝐄𝐒𝐓𝐈𝐆𝐀𝐓𝐎𝐑 "Eights are self-confident, strong, and assertive. Protective, resourceful, straight-talking, and decisive, but can also be ego-centric and domineering. Eights feel they must control their environment, especially people, sometimes becoming confrontational and intimidating. Eights typically have problems with their tempers and with allowing themselves to be vulnerable." - The Enneagram Institute Question: How can I portray the role of the enneagram in one’s inner self? As I experimented with how I was to go about portraying this type, I kept in mind Chiaroscuro’s light and dark techniques he’s so importantly used to convey meaning in his paintings. I attempted to photograph both brothers and juxtapose their characters, using the dark to cover one brother and light to the other.
